Connection - Make sure you have a good internet connection where the lesson will be held.

Angle - Make sure your camera is placed where I will be able to see the student’s face and hands.

Change these audio settings:

Computer - Go to Preferences, click the “Advanced” button, disable “Suppress Persistent Background Noise” and “Suppress Intermittent Background Noise”.

Phone/Tablet - Go to Settings, then Meetings, scroll down to “Use Original Sound” and flip the switch.

Here’s some set up options:

Great: One device with headphones for the meeting plus a second device for steaming music and metronome for play along through loud speakers.

-This way the student can play along with music and I will hear the student in sync with the music on my end. Developing good timing and feel with music is a crucial skillset for a drummer.

Good: One device with headphones.

-I can play music and metronomes to the student from my end, but the audio of the student will be out of sync as it comes back to my end. Not ideal but still workable.

Ok: One device with no headphones.

-This set up can work but it will be very hard for the student to hear me or anything I play for them to play along with over their drums.

*Headphones with inline mic on the cable is not usually necessary as the mic on your tablet or computer will often sound better.
